Digestive System Clinical Research

The digestive system consists of the gastrointestinal tract, as well as the accessory organs of digestion; the tongue, salivary glands, pancreas, liver, and gallbladder. Digestion involves the breakdown of food to be absorbed and assimilated into the body.

Bleeding, bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, heartburn, incontinence, nausea and vomiting, stomach ache, swallowing difficulties, weight gain or loss are the first signs of digestive tract problems.

Common digestive system diseases include gastroenteritis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, malabsorption, short bowel syndrome, and intestinal ischemia.
